Definition
The TXT0 designation indicates that students will not be required to pay for any course learning materials. Course learning materials include textbooks, readings, workbooks, lab manuals, online homework/quizzing platforms, required printing, or other content. Equipment, tools, or supplies needed to apply the learning occurring in the class are not considered course materials.
TXT0 classes may rely solely on Open Educational Resources (OERs) or may utilize a combination of OERs, freely available web resources, library resources, and/or faculty-authored materials. For more info, see TXT0 Frequently Asked Questions.
For Kapi‘olani Community College, instructors and lecturers can ask their department secretaries to
(1) mark the TXT0 attribute for the class in Banner and
(2) add the Textbook Cost: $0 designation to the notes field in Banner for the class.
The description will appear on the class availability website at the beginning of the Comment Text field for a class.
